EV charger opportunity map
Interactive UX prototype helping small businesses assess EV charger investment opportunities using current and forecast EV adoption data.
Project overview
Project description
A personal project, this prototype was inspired by UX research I conducted while working on an EV charging platform. A key insight was that many small business owners were interested in installing an EV charger for passive income but lacked visibility into current and future local demand, making it difficult to judge whether the investment would be worthwhile.

Discover where EV charger demand is growing
A tool to enable visibility over where EV charging demand is growing.
Businesses or individuals who are considering installing an EV charger for commercial purposes can explore current and projected EV ownership alongside existing public charging infrastructure to identify locations where future charging demand may exceed supply.
This prototype helps answer one simple question:
Would an EV charger make sense here?
The map can be used to:
View current and forecast EV ownership
Compare EV growth with existing charger availability
Identify potential charging gaps
Explore whether an EV charger could generate additional revenue, attract customers and increase visitor dwell time
*Placeholder data for concept validation purposes
-
This is an unvalidated prototype currently undergoing usability testing.
The map uses a sample dataset with placeholder EV ownership and charging data, so results are for demonstration purposes only and should not be used for investment or business decisions. Search is currently limited to locations included in the placeholder dataset.
Future versions will include:
Real-world EV ownership and charging data
More comprehensive location coverage
Charger type and charging speed information
Improved forecasting and demand modelling
Ongoing refinements informed by user feedback
